SketchUp

With SketchUp, you can quickly and easily create 3D surface models and visualize them with textures and animations. You can evaluate sun shadows, create landscapes, quickly embellish your drawing with various standard components (trees, people, cars), make cross-sections of your model, and walk through your design.

LayOut
With LayOut, you can place your model into a template and present the different views. You can customize your model by adding text, images, and other graphic elements such as arrows and circles. You can create multiple pages to present your model both on-screen and on paper!

Improved Outliner
A BIG change in model organization: Outliner. To improve model performance, you no longer need to create Layer upon Layer. Manage and organize your model directly within Outliner. Using the user-friendly eye icon, you can switch between key parts of your model, such as floor plans and furniture.

New Grips on Bounding Boxes
Sometimes you want to grab a point of an object that is hidden, like the back corner or the midpoint of a sofa. From now on, objects will automatically become transparent so you can easily move or rotate them. This will literally “transform” your workflow. Don’t just take our word for it—start positioning objects in hard-to-reach places and see what happens!

Better Control Over Hidden Objects
You will notice in the dropdown menu that hiding objects is now separate from hiding geometry. How does this change your workflow? Well, it allows you to better manage hidden geometry and hidden objects for an even smoother modeling experience. For example, if you want to edit hidden edges in a landscape or flat surface while still being able to hide nearby objects (like trees, shrubs, or a building), you can now do so!

Updates to Your SketchUp Vocabulary
Some things now have different names in SketchUp. Good to know! Objects are now a collective term for Groups, Components, and Dynamic Components. So you no longer need to say “Groups/Components.” Also, Layers are now called “Tags.” Keep in mind that only the terms have changed, not how the objects function.
